Genussakademie Bayern

WE MAKE EDUCATION TASTE GOOD! This is what the “Genussakademie Bayern” stands for. It forms a pillar of the "Premium Strategy Bavaria" of the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry, initiated in 2017. Under its umbrella, professionals working in the food industry will find practice-oriented qualification courses on all aspects of culinary pleasure and taste development. The courses range from one-day workshops with a broad diversity of topics to sommelier classes lasting several weeks.

The sommelier qualification courses of the Food Cluster – "Gewürz-, Käse- or Edelbrandsommelier" – form the base of the "Genussakademie Bayern" and are supplemented by the partner courses from Doemens (for the Beer and Water Sommelier) and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Würzburg (for the Wine Sommelier).

Gewürzsommelier

Spices – there is hardly a product area that can come up with such an immense variety. In the course of the qualification you will gain comprehensive knowledge in theory and practice concerning the topic area of "spices", as well as learn about the basics regarding a correct and creative approach for handling spices.

The qualification as "Käsesommelier" started in 2012. The contents of the 15-day training course range from cheese production, variety studies, cheese care, cheese cutting technique, and presentation to combining cheese with different beverages.

Edelbrandsommelier

The training is intended to prepare distilleries to achieve a sustainable improvement in the quality of their own products in order to remain competitive. In addition, the participants will be trained to convey the fascination of fine spirits in gastronomy and tourism to the interested public and customers.
